چکیده

A method is suggested for interpolating between small-variable and large-variable asymptotic expansions. The method is based on self-similar approximation theory resulting in self-similar root approximants. The latter are more general than the twosided Padé approximants and modified Padé approximants, including these as particular cases. Being more general, the self-similar root approximants guarantee the accuracy that is not worse, and often better, than that of the Padé approximants. The advantage of the root approximants is in their unambiguous definition and in the possibility of their construction, even when Padé approximants cannot be defined. Conditions for the unique definition of the root approximants are formulated. Several examples from high-energy physics illustrate the method. Monte Carlo Determination of Full Energy Peak Efficiency for HPGe Detector and Self-Absorption Correction of Environmental Samples

The Monte Carlo method was used to determine full energy efficiency of a high-purity germanium (HPGe) coaxial detector within an energy range of 53.2-2614 keV. Also, measurement was carried out for a standard Marinelli beaker of 600cm3, which was placed into the reference material of mixed gamma. The plot of the experimentally derived effic...

Self–Similar Crossover in Statistical Physics

An analytical method is advanced for constructing interpolation formulae for complicated problems of statistical mechanics, in which just a few terms of asymptotic expansions are available. The method is based on the self–similar approximation theory, being its variant where control functions are defined from asymptotic crossover conditions. Several examples from statistical physics demonstrate...

The biological effects induced by high-charged and energy particles and its application in cancer therapy

The radiobiological effects of high atomic number and energy (HZE particles) ion beams are of interest for radioprotection in space and tumor radiotherapy. Space radiation mainly consists of heavy charged particles from protons to iron ions, which is distinct from common terrestrial forms of radiation. HZE particles pose a significant cancer risk to astronauts on prolonged space missions. With ...

New approach for calibration of pixelated scintillation detectors of intraoperative gamma cameras

Introduction:SURGEOSIGHT is a dedicated intra-operative hand-held gamma camera designed and manufactured by our team to be used for lymphoscintigraphy. Although conventional gamma cameras are widely used, they lack the capability of the sentinel lymph node (SLN) imaging in the operation room. Like conventional gamma cameras it is necessary to calibrate SURGEOSIGHT for linearity...

Growing multiconfigurational potential energy surfaces with applications to X + H2 (X = C,N,O) reactions.

A previously developed method, based on a Shepard interpolation procedure to automatically construct a quantum mechanical potential energy surface (PES), is extended to the construction of multiple potential energy surfaces using multiconfigurational wave functions. These calculations are accomplished with the interface of the PES-building program, GROW, and the GAMESS suite of electronic struc...
